Fat Tuesday, Carnival, day of reveling and partying and excess, one last hurrah before the season of Lent. Interesting.
Instead of the traditional Mardi Gras parades and partying, what if we used the day for reflecting on the blessings we have in our lives – we all have challenges, but we all have blessings too. Instead of focusing on our problems, our needs, our wants, why don’t we spend the day celebrating who we are, we are unique in this world and our contribution is uniquely ours. Why don’t we take the time to remember what we are grateful for, a second Thanksgiving perhaps, when we remember what we are grateful for, we start to be more selfless, not so focused on what we don’t have and what we want.
Mardi Gras – Fat Tuesday – let’s get “fat” on the blessings, the good in our lives. Let our blessing cup overflow.
